About English lessons
Strong reading and writing skills help in every subject. Tutors work on whatever matters most for the learner, whether that’s confidence reading aloud, clearer paragraphs or well-argued essays.
What lessons can cover
- Phonics, reading and comprehension
- Spelling, punctuation and grammar
- Creative and narrative writing
- Argumentative and informational writing

Questions
English tutoring FAQs
Are lessons online or in person?
Either. Online lessons take place over video, so you can learn from anywhere in the U.S. In-person lessons depend on a suitable tutor being available near you. You can choose either option when you request a tutor.
How long is each lesson?
A standard lesson is one hour. If a shorter or longer session would suit the learner better, let us know when you request a tutor.
What does it cost?
You pay us a set hourly price that depends on the learner’s level, rather than negotiating with each tutor. See our pricing page for details.
